Species/Populations East Canadian High Arctic Light-bellied Brent Goose History Co-ordinated counts of this population began in 1996/97. Aims Assess population size and annual productivity, and identify important sites. Coverage International (Northern Ireland, Ireland, Iceland). Frequency Annual (two counts each winter; one in the autumn and another in the spring). Methods A co-ordinated site-based census. Counters record the number of birds present, and the age structure of flocks, at known wintering locations.
