A big thanks to all the observers that took part in the 2015 International Swan Census (ISC).
Observers were busily covering survey sites on 17/18 January counting Whooper & Bewick’s Swans as part of the five-yearly census. Records have been flying in via our new WWT Waterbird Monitoring Online website and some initial highlights from the data supplied to date are as follows:
Number of sites surveyed: 275
Number of observers: 82
Number of Bewick’s Swans: 142
Number of Whooper Swans: 6,188
You can see that counts from several major areas have yet to be submitted as Local and National Organisers collate and check data. Once that has been done the data can be checked and the analysis and assessment can begin. We’ll keep you posted with news on that just as soon as we have it.
Counts are still coming in and we’re aware that a small number of observers have registered at WWT Waterbird Monitoring Online but haven’t yet supplied their counts. Please do so as soon as you are able. If you experience any difficulties when using or accessing WWT Waterbird Monitoring Online website please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Thank you.
